What is extrude in 3D?
Extrusion is the process of stretching a flat, 2D shape vertically to create a 3D object in a scene. When you extrude a layer in the 2D Layers category in the Contents pane, it is moved to the 3D Layers category.
Can you extrude steel?
Compared to most other materials, steel is relatively easy to extrude, making it ideal for complex profiles and intricate part shapes. It is also considerably less expensive than many other metals and alloys, making it well-suited to high quantity production runs.
How are edges changed in the extrude region?
First, the algorithm determines the outside edge loop of the extrude; that is, which among the selected edges will be changed into faces. By default (see below), the algorithm considers edges belonging to two or more selected faces as internal, and hence not part of the loop. The edges in the edge loop are then changed into faces.
Where does the extrusion of an object start?
The extrusion starts from the plane of the object and maintains its orientation relative to the path. If the path contains segments that are not tangent, the program extrudes the object along each segment and then miters the joint along the plane bisecting the angle formed by the segments.
When to use extrude tool on a closed object?
You can apply the Extrude tool only on the closed objects such as square, circle, rectangle, arcs, arcs lines, planar surfaces, planar faces on solid, ellipses, traces, regions, or any other specific shape that is making a closed object. When you have created the 2D object, you can start the Extrude command.
Where to place the extrude command in GrabCAD?
Drag the cursor horizontally to specify and preview the taper angle. You can also drag the cursor to adjust and preview the height of the extrusion. The dynamic input origin should be placed on the extruded shape, on the projection of the point to the shape.
