How is hinge loss convex?
Hinge loss is a convex upper bound on 0-1 loss. – SVMs add L2-regularization, can be viewed as “maximizing the margin”. Logistic loss is a smooth convex approximation to the 0-1 loss.
How do I find my hinge losses?
From our SVM model, we know that hinge loss = [0, 1- yf(x)]. Looking at the graph for SVM in Fig 4, we can see that for yf(x) ≥ 1, hinge loss is ‘0’. However, when yf(x) < 1, then hinge loss increases massively.
Is hinge function convex?
Fortunately, hinge loss, logistic loss and square loss are all convex functions.
What is01 loss function?
The 0-1 loss function is an indicator function that returns 1 when the target and output are not equal and zero otherwise: 0-1 Loss: The quadratic loss is a commonly used symmetric loss function.
What’s the difference between hinge loss and 0-1 loss?
Here is an intuitive illustration of difference between hinge loss and 0-1 loss: As you can see in this image, the black line is the 0-1 loss, blue line is the hinge loss and red line is the logistic loss. The hinge loss, compared with 0-1 loss, is more smooth.
When does the upper bound of hinge loss increase?
However, when yf (x) < 1, then hinge loss increases massively. As yf (x) increases with every misclassified point (very wrong points in Fig 5), the upper bound of hinge loss { 1- yf (x) } also increases exponentially.
Why is ” hinge ” loss equivalent to 0-1 loss in SVM?
In § § 12.3.2 it introduced the SVM as a penalization method: Could anyone kindly give me some hint why they are equivalent, and what’s the benefit of introducing the “hinge” loss? Thanks a lot! Here is an intuitive illustration of difference between hinge loss and 0-1 loss:
What is the hinge loss of logistic regression?
Almost, all classification models are based on some kind of models. E.g. Logistic regression has logistic loss (Fig 4: exponential), SVM has hinge loss (Fig 4: Support Vector), etc. From our SVM model, we know that hinge loss = [ 0, 1- yf (x) ]. Looking at the graph for SVM in Fig 4, we can see that for yf (x) ≥ 1, hinge loss is ‘ 0 ’.
