Can you do moderation in SEM?
Yes you can use moderators in SEM.
What is interaction moderation?
Moderation distinguishes between the roles of the two variables involved in the interaction. So, for example, when we say X and Z interact in their effects on an outcome variable Y, there is no real distinction between the role of X and the role of Z.
What statistical analysis should I use for moderation?
In ANOVA, the moderator variable effect is represented by the interaction effect between the dependent variable and the factor variable. You can use regression analysis in SPSS to test a moderating effect without using Sturctural Equation Modeling. This is evidence for a moderation.
What is moderation analysis?
A moderation analysis is an exercise of external validity in that the question is how universal is the causal effect. A key part of moderation is the measurement of X to Y causal relationship for different values of M. We refer to the effect of X on Y for a given value of M as the simple effect X on Y.
What is a moderator variable example?
Moderating variables can be qualitative (non-numerical values like race, socioeconomic class or sex) or quantitative (numerical values like weight, reward level or age). For example: Sex is a qualitative variable that moderates the strength of an effect between stress and health status.
How do we test for moderation?
Moderation can be tested by looking for significant interactions between the moderating variable (Z) and the IV (X). Notably, it is important to mean center both your moderator and your IV to reduce multicolinearity and make interpretation easier.
What is a multi group model?
Multiple-group or multigroup structural equation models test separate structural models in two or more groups (Jöreskog, 1971; Sorböm, 1974). Multigroup models generally follow the same structure in each group and can provide separate estimates of within-group parameters (e.g., loadings, paths, and correlations).
What is multi group analysis?
The multi-group analysis allows to test if pre-defined data groups have significant differences in their group-specific parameter estimates (e.g., outer weights, outer loadings and path coefficients). SmartPLS provides outcomes of three different approaches that are based on bootstrapping results from every group.
Which is the moderation approach used in SEM?
One approach to statistical interactions, or moderation, in SEM follows the regression approach to interactions with continuous variables. Either continuous or binary variables can be used in this approach to testing interactions, of course, but when the moderator is continuous, the multigroup approach described below cannot be used.

When to use binary or continuous variables in SEM?

How to add interaction term in SEM lavaan ( in are )?
Newbury Park, CA: Sage. In case, you x variable is latent, you have the possibility to run a latent interaction model which give you the advantage that the measurement error of the product variable is reduced. I attached an English translation of a chapter in my German book on SEM in lavaan that explains in detail how you would do it.
