What is a TSA model?
tsa contains model classes and functions that are useful for time series analysis. Basic models include univariate autoregressive models (AR), vector autoregressive models (VAR) and univariate autoregressive moving average models (ARMA). Non-linear models include Markov switching dynamic regression and autoregression.
What is Bayesian forecasting?
Bayesian forecasting is a natural product of a Bayesian approach to inference. The Bayesian approach in general requires explicit formulation of a model, and conditioning on known quantities, in order to draw inferences about unknown ones.
Why is it called Bayesian time series?
One solution to the over-fitting problem, is to take a Bayesian approach which allows us to impose certain priors on our variables. Another big reason we often prefer to use Bayesian methods is that it allows us to incorporate uncertainty in our parameter estimates which is particularly useful when forecasting.
What is an example of time series forecasting?
Time series forecasting is a data analysis method that aims to reveal certain patterns from the dataset in an attempt to predict future values. The example of time series data are stock exchange rates, electricity load statistics, monthly (daily, hourly) customer demand data, micro and macroeconomic parameters, genetic patterns and many others.
What is a time series forecasting model?
Time series forecasting is the use of a model to predict future values based on previously observed values. Time series are widely used for non-stationary data, like economic, weather, stock price, and retail sales in this post.
What are some examples of time series?
Most commonly, a time series is a sequence taken at successive equally spaced points in time. Thus it is a sequence of discrete-time data. Examples of time series are heights of ocean tides, counts of sunspots, and the daily closing value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
