What is EV3 Lab software?
EV3 Lab is the previous, renamed programming software for this kit, until recently known as LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Teacher Edition.
How do I get EV3 software?
Install EV3 Programming App on an Android Tablet
- Download the Lego Mindstorms Programmer App from Google Play here , or search for EV3 Programmer within Google Play.
- Authenticate to allow the install.
- The first time the app loads it will prompt for a language selection, select your preferred language and press Done.

Do you need a developer kit for EV3?
This Developer Kit is relevant for you if you want to create your own programming blocks for the EV3 software. This could for example be a programming block for a custom sensor you’ve built yourself. Please note that this developer kit only runs on computers running Windows as its operating system.
What can you do with Mindstorms EV3 brick?
The app includes teacher resources, units, lessons and more. You can now use your EV3 Brick and Visual Studio Code to unleash the power of Python programming using MicroPython. Simply install the EV3 MicroPython image onto any micro SD card and boot up your EV3 Brick from it to start programming straight away.
When does EV3 classroom come out for Android?
Featuring a coding language based on Scratch, EV3 Classroom will initially launch for macOS in November 2019 and in spring 2020 for iOS, Windows 10, Android and Chrome. EV3 Classroom will offer a consistent experience, features, and content across all devices.
