What is a composite index score?
A composite index is a statistical tool that groups together many different equities, securities, or indexes in order to create a representation of overall market or sector performance. Typically, the elements of a composite index are combined in a standardized way so that large amounts of data can be presented easily.
What is a composite ranking?
Background—Composite indices of health care performance are an aggregation of underlying individual performance measures and are increasingly being used to rank hospitals. Rankings generated by the two methods were significantly correlated (r 0.93, P 0.001).
What does a PCA score mean to you?
For me, PCA scores are just re-arrangements of the data in a form that allows me to explain the data set with less variables. The scores represent how much each item relates to the component.
When to use a principal component analysis ( PCA )?
Assess how many principal components are needed; Interpret principal component scores and describe a subject with a high or low score; Determine when a principal component analysis should be based on the variance-covariance matrix or the correlation matrix; Use principal component scores in further analyses.
What does PCA tell you about factor loadings?
Two of the main criteria: Take components having Eigen values greater than 1 and the total variations at least greater than 70%. Thus, the values of PCA tells you factor loadings meaning coefficient values to what extent the merged variables are correlated or not by observing its sign (negative or positive).
How is the PCA related to the javelin variable?
Now we do a PCA using the variance covariance cross product matrix: From this plot, we see that the first principal component is positively associated with longer times on the 1500. So, slower runners will have higher value on this component. The first principal component is negatively correlated to the javelin variable.
