What does factor loading tell us?
Factor loading is basically the correlation coefficient for the variable and factor. Factor loading shows the variance explained by the variable on that particular factor. In the SEM approach, as a rule of thumb, 0.7 or higher factor loading represents that the factor extracts sufficient variance from that variable.
What are the reasons for using factors loading?
Simply put, the factor loading of a variable quantifies the extent to which the variable is related with a given factor. A common rationale behind factor analytic methods is that the information gained about the interdependencies between observed variables can be used later to reduce the set of variables in a dataset.
How are loadings and eigenvectors used in factor analysis?
The purpose of factor analysis is to decompose D in such a way as to reveal the underlying scores and factors. The loadings in L tell us the proportion of each score which make up the observations in D. In PCA, L has the eigenvectors of the correlation or covariance matrix of D as its columns.
How is the eigenvalue table used in factor analysis?
The Eigenvalue table has been divided into three sub-sections, i.e. Initial Eigen Values, Extracted Sums of Squared Loadings and Rotation of Sums of Squared Loadings. For analysis and interpretation purpose we are only concerned with Extracted Sums of Squared Loadings.
How are factor loadings used in factor analysis?
Factor loadings indicate how much a factor explains a variable. Loadings can range from -1 to 1. Minitab calculates unrotated factor loadings, and rotated factor loadings if you select a rotation method for the analysis. Examine the loading pattern to determine the factor that has the most influence on each variable.
What does total variance explained eigenvalue mean?
Total variance explained Eigenvalue actually reflects the number of extracted factors whose sum should be equal to number of items which are subjected to factor analysis. The next item shows all the factors extractable from the analysis along with their eigenvalues.
