How do I run a latex file in Texniccenter?
Detailed instructions for this step:
- Do Build => Define Output Profiles…
- Left click on “Viewer” tab.
- Left click on “LaTeX => PDF” in left hand column.
- Insure all the options are like this:
- Change the “Path of executable” to be the complete filename to Adobe Reader. I used.
- Left click on “OK”.
Where are latex packages stored?
Navigate to the folder where LaTeX packages get installed. If you accepted the default location when you installed MiKTeX, this folder is probably C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex. (If you have an older MiKTeX installation, this folder is probably C:\texmf\tex\latex.)

TeXnicCenter provides support for custom document templates. A document template is a simple file or a wizard that generates a frame for a new document. When using document frames over and over again (i.e. a letter), then using document templates will be a big help.

In the output profiles of TeXnicCenter you must set the according executable, but if you use the profile wizard, TeXnicCenter does it for you (you must give the path to the executable binaries.) For MiKTeX I can say, that both fancyhdr and natbib are not part of the basic installation, so must installed with the Package Manager.
