Why does NetworkManager not show Ethernet connection in Ubuntu?
NetworkManager doesn’t show ethernet connection. So after upgrading from Ubuntu 16.04 to 16.10 I noticed that my eth0 device had disappeared. My machine also doesn’t connect to the network by default, and the connection is not shown in gnome’s NetworkManager.
What to do if NetworkManager is not running?
Your wireless and ethernet connections will then be managed by NetworkManager. If you don’t want network manager to manage anymore you can just stop the service, or disable it at boot time by removing it from your /etc/rc [x].d/ directory where [x] corresponds to your runlevel. Enjoy!

EDIT: Why the problem occured: I had netcfg and NetworkManager running simultaneously. Solution: Disable/stop one of the two services. You have to either use Netcfg or networkmanager. if i use NetworkManager should i have to disable netcfg? You should only have one of those enabled.

Go to Device Manager, network adapters and find the ethernet one.
