Why does my server keep restarting?
There are only a handful of reasons a machine ever reboots: Forced by an automatically-applied update. Requested by a user or program. Auto-reboot on power failure is ON and the power failed.

Why is my Windows Server 2016 automatically restarting?
And I would like to know the answer for this as well. Windows 2016 is broken by design if it does reboots without our explicit permission. Count me in as well. Any suggestions for preventing any type of auto restart would be helpful. This needs to be a manual process for our servers; no surprise reboots.

You can check or change this behaviour by running the command line util sconfig.exe (server config). I’ve since deployed some 2016 machines and thus far they have not automatically rebooted or installed updates, only downloaded them. Same here… we’ve had a 2016 reboot on us without any approval whatsoever!
