Can we run both NGINX and Apache at the same time?

Can we run both NGINX and Apache at the same time?

Apache and Nginx can definitely run simultaneously. The default config will not allow them to start at the same time because they will both try to listen on the same port and the same IP.

Does NGINX use Apache?

In the case of static content, NGINX is a fantastic server, as files are served to the client directly and quickly. With dynamic content, NGINX proxies requests to Apache to be processed. Apache will then bring rendered pages back. After this, NGINX is able to send content back to clients.

Is LiteSpeed better than NGINX?

In all tests, LiteSpeed performs better than nginx: it transfers files faster and uses less CPU and memory. nginx never reaches TCP-level throughput at low bandwidth. At high bandwidth, nginx throughput is a fraction of that of LiteSpeed. nginx’s HTTP/3 is not ready for production use.

Can you run Apache and nginx on the same server?

In some cases you may need to run both Apache (httpd) and Nginx on port 80. Such a situation can be a server running Cpanel/Whm and as such doesn’t support nginx, so you wouldn’t want to mess with the apache configuration at all.

Can a PHP file be served by Nginx?

With the above configuration, any file or folder that exists will be served by Nginx (the php block will catch files ending in .php), otherwise it will be passed back to apache on the backend. In some cases you may wish for everything to be passed to Apache unless otherwise specified, in which case you would have a configuration such as this:

How do I bind Apache to the localhost?

Above we bind Apache to the localhost on an alternate port, since only Nginx on the same machine will be communicating with Apache.

Is the Apache server listening on port 8080?

Verify that Apache is now listening on 8080. The output is shown below, with apache2 listening on :::8080. Nginx is configured and running as the front web server on port while Apache is configured to run on the backend on port 8080.
