How would you find the number of bytes in a file?
Step 2: Multiply total number of pixels by the bit depth of the detector (16 bit, 14 bit etc.) to get the total number of bits of data. Step 3: Dividing the total number of bits by 8 equals the file size in bytes.
What is read () in C?
DESCRIPTION. The read() function shall attempt to read nbyte bytes from the file associated with the open file descriptor, fildes, into the buffer pointed to by buf. The behavior of multiple concurrent reads on the same pipe, FIFO, or terminal device is unspecified.
What read C return?
The read() function reads data previously written to a file. If any portion of a regular file prior to the end-of-file has not been written, read() shall return bytes with value 0. For example, lseek() allows the file offset to be set beyond the end of existing data in the file.
What is a byte count?
The byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits. Historically, the byte was the number of bits used to encode a single character of text in a computer and for this reason it is the smallest addressable unit of memory in many computer architectures.
What are the key steps in reading writing to sockets?
However, the basics are much the same as they are in this program:
- Open a socket.
- Open an input stream and output stream to the socket.
- Read from and write to the stream according to the server’s protocol.
- Close the streams.
- Close the socket.
How many zeros are in a zettabyte?
A zettabyte is a digital unit of measurement. One zettabyte is equal to one sextillion bytes or 1021 (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) bytes, or, one zettabyte is equal to a trillion gigabytes….The zettabyte.

Is there a nice way to read a specific number of bytes?
Not a fixed amount of bytes in a predefined buffer, but I have a string/stream which indicates the number of bytes to read next. Is there a nice way to do that?
How to print number of bytes from file?
I want to open a file and read that many bytes from said file, then print it to console using printf. There has got to be an easy way to do this. Thanks in advance!
How to read a specific number of bytes from a Rust Stream?
Since Rust 1.6, Read::read_exact can be used to do this. If bytes_to_read is the number of bytes you need to read, possibly determined at runtime, and reader is the stream to read from: let mut buf = vec! [0u8; bytes_to_read]; reader.read_exact (&mut buf)?;
