What is synchronous processing?
A synchronous process is a process that can be executed without interruption from start to finish. The Workflow Engine executes a process synchronously when the process includes activities that can be completed immediately, such as function activities that are not deferred to the background engine.
What are background processes in Linux called?
Foreground and background processes. Processes that require a user to start them or to interact with them are called foreground processes. Processes that are run independently of a user are referred to as background processes. Programs and commands run as foreground processes by default.
What is asynchronous job?
Purpose: The ASYNC jobs, or background jobs, are used to process system table updates throughout the day. These jobs run in the background and process transactions in sequence as they are sent to the data queues. These jobs are placed in a Wait (DEQW) status when there are no records to process.
Which is better synchronous or asynchronous processing?
Asynchronous processing enables various workflow processes to run at the same time. By starting a JD Edwards EnterpriseOne workflow process asynchronously, you are simply running the workflow in the background of the calling application. Although asynchronous workflow processes might process faster, synchronous processing is sometimes preferred.
Is there such thing as a forced synchronous process?
Since a forced synchronous process never writes to the database, using a non-unique item key such as #SYNCH is not an issue. Your process definition, however, must adhere to the following set of restrictions: No notification activities are allowed. Limited blocking-type activities are allowed.
When does Group Policy foreground processing run asynchronously?
With Fast Logon Optimization, enabled Group Policy foreground processing runs asynchronously. When a CSE requires synchronous processing: Policy settings do not apply during the asynchronous processing cycle. The CSE that requires synchronous policy application can still be called during asynchronous policy application.
Can a task be executed asynchronously or synchronously?
In that case, the first two tasks can be executed asynchronously, but orders will only be executed when products are completed—so, synchronously.
