Why is the file size reported incorrectly for files that are still being written to?
The result of this change is that the directory entry now gets updated less frequently, and therefore the last-updated file size is more out-of-date than it already was. Mind you, if the file is being continuously written-to, then the value you get is already wrong the moment you receive it.
Is 2MB a large file?

This is something that’s confused computer users for many years: the exact same file can show as taking up a different amount of space, depending on where you look and the characteristics of different disk drives. Copy that file online and things get even more confusing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this be something to worry about.
Why is the size of a file listed as 1kb?
In a sense, the file takes up no additional space on disk (zero clusters) beyond its directory listing. When that happens, Windows File Explorer lists the size as 1KB — the size of the directory listing — rather than the size of the clusters allocated to the file.
What’s the average size of a cluster file?
Cluster size is configurable when a disk is formatted, and generally ranges from 512 to 131,072 bytes. Different utilities show disk space differently. Online services hide all that and simply show your file sizes. I’ll use a one- byte file as my example: one-byte-file.txt. A one-byte file listed in the Windows Command Prompt.
