What is host to IP mapping?
You can create a mapping between a remote TCP/IP host name and domain name and one or more IP addresses on the enterprise server either by using the NW TCPIP MAPPING command, or by using the SYSTEM/RESOLVER.
Can I map a IP address and a port with ETC hosts?
No. The /etc/hosts file is part of your system’s domain name resolver (it will check this file, then check DNS). The resolver’s job is to convert text domain names to an IP address, not an IP address + port.
Does Windows 10 use a host file?
Windows 10 still retains the old computing standard of having a hosts file for rudimentary hostname mapping. It resides in Windows’ internal “System32” folder, so to save your edits you’ll need administrator access. The quickest way to open the file is using Notepad with administrator privileges.

The hosts file is for host name resolution only (on Windows as well as on Unix-like systems). You cannot put port numbers in there, and there is no way to do what you want with generic OS-level configuration – the browser is what selects the port to choose. So use bookmarks or something like that.

How to resolve hostname in / etc / hosts?
In addition to DopeGhoti’s answer, to test your resolving, inlcuding the /etc/hosts precedence, you can use the getent hosts command. I got similar issues with a /etc/hosts containing multiple spaces between IP and hostname, instead using a TAB. After changing to TAB the hostname could be resolved by ping.
