The Sand Pile Effect is a thought experiment that I think helps explain a lot of what we are seeing in 2020 politically, economically, and socially. Imagine a giant grid. Whenever four or more grains of sand are at the same dot, four grains topple off, one in each compass direction.

What is the difference between silica sand and regular sand?
