What is reverse goal path?
The Reverse Goal Path is a report that helps fill in these details. You’ll find it under Conversions > Goals in the left-hand navigation in Google Analytics, and like all the goal reports, you can select a particular goal you want to see from the drop-down at the top.
What are funnel Goals?
In marketing, goal funnels (or conversion funnels) are simply a sequence of action steps that your leads must go through in order to “convert” (e.g. buy one of your products). On Google Analytics, each step of a goal funnel represents a step on your website that must be completed to achieve a Google Analytics Goal.
Where is funnel in Google Analytics?
To do so, follow these short steps:
- Go to Admin > Goals > +New Goal > Choose a Goal (e.g. Place an order).
- Select “Destination” Goal > Goal Details.
- Turn on the “Funnel” switch.
- Name each step of the funnel and add a URL. You can also specify whether a step is optional (flexible) or required (strict).

Goal Previous Step – 1 is the penultimate step in the user journey; it is the last page that the visitor landed just before converting. Goal Completion Location – is the final step in the user journey where the user converted or completed a goal on that page e.g. /thank-you page.

The Goal Flow report is a flexible funnel reporting system that allows for historical data analysis, advanced segmentation, and funnel analysis without backfilling, while the Funnel Visualization report is a rigid report that backfills and doesn’t account for the actual steps that the user took.
Can you compare date ranges in funnel visualization?
The Funnel Visualization report’s date comparison feature shows you the difference in the total conversion rate for a specific goal, but it does not show you that difference for different funnel steps. Yes. Use the Goal Flow report’s calendar feature to compare two date ranges for all steps of the funnel.
Can you do advanced segmentation in funnel visualization?
No. The Funnel Visualization report doesn’t support advanced segmentation. Yes. The Goal Flow report supports advanced segmentation. You can apply one standard or custom advanced segment to the report at a time. You can also use the dimension picker at the top left of the report to change the dimension by which the report is segmented.
Is the Order of steps represented in the funnel visualization report?
No. The actual order in which the steps were viewed isn’t represented in the Funnel Visualization report. Analytics scans through each session, checks if a certain step is viewed, and then increments that step by 1 in the Funnel Visualization report.
