Can you access non-WordPress subdirectories as WordPress?
I refer to this question previously asked and not suitably answered: WordPress overriding actual subdirectories and also Non “WordPress” pages/code getting 404 error I have the same problem and I have tried nearly everything I found on the net.
Where are the subdomains located on a website?
A subdirectory is the part of the url that houses a specific subset of content. A website is like a filing cabinet, the folders within the cabinet would be the subdirectories of your site. Individual directories are located to the right of the domain.
Can a gTLD be used as a subdomain?
Subdomains are not free from effort and will require the resources to establish and maintain each separate subdomain. You can probably determine how subdirectories factor in as an option. Using one gTLD, content can be stored in separate folders for each country or language.
Why is my script overiding the htaccess in WordPress?
I noted that the WordPress htaccess was overiding the script’s htaccess. I also noted that other WordPress installations in the same directory did not have this 404 error. I simply adopted the htaccess from the new WordPress installation in the same server directory and added it in the folder where my script is located.
Why does htaccess not work in WordPress root?
I’m assuming that you put WordPress in your site root and the external directories are also in your site root. The reason this is happening is that .htaccess files follow a hierarchy. Whatever directives are in the top-level .htaccess file flow down and apply to all directories below it.
Why do I get 404 error with WordPress migration?
The thing is that we need to allow the override all option in httpd.conf (location: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf) for your specific hosting directory. Sometimes on a new server it’s just the rewrite module missing from Apache config. Solved this problem on Linux Mint 19 / PHP Version 7.2.19-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 by changing: Hope this helps!
