What should my title and meta description be?
The description tag is intended to be a short summary of the content found on the web page. While the title tag is very limited, a meta description gives you a bit more space to tell users what you’re offering, and it’s an opportunity to give them a compelling reason to click through to your page.
What is the difference between meta description and keywords?
Meta Keywords Attribute – A series of keywords you deem relevant to the page in question. Meta Description Attribute – A brief description of the page. Meta Robots Attribute – An indication to search engine crawlers (robots or “bots”) as to what they should do with the page.
What should be the meta description of a website?
A page’s meta description should intelligently (read: in a natural, active, non-spammy way) employ the keywords that page is targeting, but also create a compelling description that a searcher will want to click. It should be directly relevant to the page it describes, and unique from the descriptions for other pages.
How many characters do you need for a meta description?
Use 160 characters for your meta descriptions, but don’t obsess over it, i.e. if your description is 161 characters, don’t waste time trimming it. Instead, focus on these tips: Stick to your brand voice and tone, but also keep it conversational. Include your primary keyword if you can do so naturally. Make sure you convey value to the reader.
Meta tags may have some direct rank affect in other search engines though (like Bing or Duck Duck Go) so we do highly recommend always writing a well optimized meta description that includes a keyword for every page of your website. Will they always use the meta description I write?
Why do I have to include my phone number in my meta description?
If someone searching on a phone sees a list of search results and yours is the only one which includes a number they can quickly call without having to search further, you have naturally increased your chances of getting the call.
