How do I open HAXM files?
Open the SDK Manager. Click the SDK Update Sites tab and then select Intel HAXM. Click OK.
What is HAXM?
HAXM stands for “Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager”. It is used for launching Emulators and must be installed and in usable status. Please note that Emulator launching means Virtualisation. So, we need to ensure that Intel Hardware to launch Virtualisation Technology(VT) is enabled in our machine.

- From the Intel website, download the latest HAXM virtualization engine installer for Windows.

How much RAM do I need for HAXM?
Recommended memory for HAXM is 2GB, but you can change that based on your hardware. We recommend that you install HAXM if you plan to use the emulator.
Can not install HAXM?
Option 1: Go to Android SDK Folder –> Extra –> Intel and double click on HAXM installer and install it manually. Option 2: If you do not have latest version of HAXM then you can open sdk manager in android studio and download it. I was also able to create AVD now(which was also a problem when HAXM was not install).
How do I enable VTx?
Turn on the computer, and then immediately click F10 to enter BIOS. Under the Security tab, use the up and down arrows to select USB Security, and then press Enter. Use the up and down arrows to select Virtualization Technology (VTx), then use the left and right arrows to select either Enabled or Disabled as desired.

For this open android sdk manager and check it is installed or not. In case it is installed then maybe there was some error while its installation that’s why it is not working properly. Just uninstall intel haxm from control panel and download it separately from below link and then install. Make sure to restart your system.
Can you run Android virtual device without Intel HAXM?
We can’t run Android Virtual Device (AVD) without intel haxm. As I am also an android developer so I face this problem each time I install a new copy of android studio in my laptop.

Not GOOD idea :/ Secondly, few guys said to enable vt in bios and I did that too but again same issue. Any suggestions? Had the same problem in windows 10, which was solved by disabling Hyper-v and reinstalling HAXM via SDK Manager>SDK Tools>Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator
