Can I keep my Google Music library?
You’ll still find your playlists, uploads, purchases and likes in Google Play Music until the end of the month, so you can make your transfer to YouTube Music. Or you can use Google Takeout to export a copy of your library while you decide what to do with it. If you haven’t done either yet, now is the time.
What happens to my Google Play Music library?
Google Play Music has shut down, but it is still possible to download the library or transfer to YouTube Music. The music-streaming platform officially stopped working for users in December 2020. This data includes the music library with uploads, purchases, and anything that has been purchased from Google Play Music.
Do you keep downloaded music from YouTube music after Cancelling?
You can cancel your membership at any time during the paused state. If you have a YouTube Premium subscription, any videos or music you’ve downloaded will be retained. You can’t access them until you resume your membership. If you have a YouTube Music Premium subscription, any music you’ve downloaded will be retained.
Why is Google Music no longer available?
Google discontinued Play Music to replace it with a new music streaming service called YouTube music. YouTube is owned by Google, so the new app is essentially a new, updated and rebranded version of Google Play Music.
Why did they get rid of Google Play Music?
Google had announced that it would be closing Google Play Music in order to focus on one music streaming app only – YouTube Music. Music streaming apps like Spotify already have this feature, and YouTube including it too may lead to more Google Play Music users transferring to YouTube Music.
Can you still listen to your downloaded YouTube music without subscription?
Even though you can use YouTube Music without signing up for a subscription, the download option will only become available once you’ve subscribed to YouTube Premium. You can also share your membership with your family members so that everyone can enjoy the extra features.
