What happened to gTalk?
The Google Talk App for Android and the Google Chat tool in Gmail were discontinued on June 26, 2017 and no longer function. Users may still continue to use third-party XMPP clients to connect to the legacy Google talk server, but only for 1-on-1 chat with Hangouts users.
What is Gchat for Android?
Gmail Chat, once known as Gchat but more accurately referred to as Google Hangouts today, is the little messenger attached to your Gmail account you see in a web browser.
What is mobile gTalk?
gTalk Apps “gTalk HotDial” app can be used on your Android mobile, iPhone or windows phone to make calls using gTalk® “Hot Number” feature. It enables you to add/edit “Hot Numbers” and makes it easy to dial directly from your phone contacts. Dial any destination number straight from phone’s contact list.
Is Google talk and hangout the same thing?
Hangouts is a pretty solid replacement for Google Talk. Fully transitioning Google Talk to Hangouts: Google Talk launched in 2005 as a simple chat experience between Gmail users. In 2013, we began replacing Google Talk with Hangouts, while still giving users the option to continue using Google Talk.
Does anyone use Gchat anymore?
Google Talk — affectionally known as “Gchat” — is finally getting replaced for good. The Google Talk Android app will also stop functioning, as will any third-party apps designed for Talk. (Again, anything using Hangouts — which is essentially the same thing — will still be fine.)
