What is OsmAnd Live?
The feature Subscription OsmAnd Live allows you to get all the possible features for your platform, as well as frequent map updates (up to one hour). You can also support the OpenStreetMap cartographer community.
Is OsmAnd free?
The application is available on Google Play in both a free and a paid version (OsmAnd+) which works as a donation to the developer, unlocks the download limit for offline maps, and provides access to Wikipedia POIs and their description from within the app.
What is OSM mode?
OpenStreetMap, or “OSM”, is a Wikipedia for the maps. It is a free, open, and global community project. OSM applications include routing and navigation, converting GPS coordinates to addresses, searching places by name, analyzing map data and many many more.
How does OsmAnd work?
When you need a map for a specific area, you can click on the desired area directly on the world map, OsmAnd will offer to download a map for the selected area. The free version of OsmAnd allows you to make 7 free downloads. After downloading the map, please click on the “Back” button to go to the map screen.
How do I import a GPX file into OsmAnd?
osmand –> files –> tracks –> import folder. Go to Menu –> Configure Map –> GPX Track (Turn it on) and it will show all the GPX tracks that are in the Tracks folder on your handset. If they are not in the Tracks folder, click on “Add track” and find them from your Download folder.
Does Google use OSM?
Google map has copyrights, and many organisations own it, but the OpenStreetMap users own data and software for OSM. OpenStreetMap foundation develops, promotes and protect the project. Google Maps provide features like web service, Places API and Maps image APIs.
What’s the difference between OsmAnd and OsmAnd plus?
As of 28/03/2013 the difference is that with the free version is limited to a total of 10 downloads (maps, voice packages, etc) and does not support offline Wikipedia content. I know because I tried the free version and then buyed the plus one to be able to download entire european countries. Also I think is a really good application for 7 euros.
Are there any restrictions on downloading OsmAnd maps?
While using the free edition the only limitation I noticed was the hint that I can only download 10 different maps. As of today (24/03/2016), OsmAnd has 3 versions publicly available. This is possible because OsmAnd is GPL software, and therefore can be freely compiled and distributed.
What’s the difference between OsmAnd 3 and F-Droid?
3: F-Droid version, uncrippled but has slower updates than the paid version. As of 28/03/2013 the difference is that with the free version is limited to a total of 10 downloads (maps, voice packages, etc) and does not support offline Wikipedia content.
How many versions of OsmAnd are there in the world?
As of today (24/03/2016), OsmAnd has 3 versions publicly available. This is possible because OsmAnd is GPL software, and therefore can be freely compiled and distributed. 1: Developers’ free version, crippled to 10 downloads and no Wikipedia capability.
