Can You update Yosemite from 10.10 to 10.12?

I have a 2013 macbook air with a Yosemite installed (10.10). I cannot get the software to update to High Sierra. The AppStore doesn’e show any available updates, and when I manually download and run HighSierra, I get an error that I need 10.12 installed. Does anyone know a way around this?
