What is frequent location?
The iPhone keeps track of the dates you were at a specific location and even how long you were there. This feature is often overlooked because it takes several clicks to find it. I have talked about how to turn off Location settings for certain apps.
How does iPhone track frequent locations?
Head to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Frequent Locations. Here you can toggle Frequent Locations on/off and see a list of locations. Click on a location to see it on a map with greater detail, including how many visits you’ve made and for what duration.
What are location based suggestions?
Location-Based Suggestions: The location of your iPhone will be sent to Apple to provide more relevant recommendations. If you turn off Location Services for location-based suggestions, your precise location will not be sent to Apple.
Does my phone track where I’ve been?
If you’re an Android user, you can use the Timeline page to see a map of everywhere you’ve been with your phone. Android owners can the Google tracking feature straight out of the box. But iOS need a Google app to track your location and relay the information to the Timeline page.
How do you track where a phone has been?
If you have been using the Google Maps app on Android or iOS, log into your Google account and visit your Location History page; you can also get to the settings from the Activity Controls page for your Google account. Once there, you should see a map with at least a few frequent locations marked.

Why do I have a frequent location list on my iPhone?
According to Apple, your “frequent locations” list helps “provide useful location-related information,” presumably like commute times, nearby restaurants and the like. If you’d rather not have your iPhone or iPad keep such close tabs on where you’ve been, just tap the Clear History button and toggle off the “Frequent Locations” setting.
