Is auto login secure?
Auto logon is convenience feature in Windows that’s considered a security risk. It leverages Registry values in the Winlogon subkey to define a default username, domain, and password for an account that will be automatically logged in when Windows starts.
What does disable automatic login do?
One easy way to thwart them is by disabling automatic login for all accounts on your Mac. This means that when your Mac boots up you will be prompted by a dialog asking for a password (at the very least, you can change the settings on this dialog, but that is a matter for a follow up post).

Auto-login may save you time and energy, but it can also save thieves or hackers time and energy. If you have pretty much everything you use on an active basis set to auto-login, and if someone else gets access to your phone itself, they will have immediate access to everything you do.
