Do you need Cfii for Mei?
Unless the student is doing the initial instrument rating in a multi engine the instructor does not need to be a CFII for the student to qualify for the rating.
Does a flight instructor need an instrument rating?
Long story short, a CFI without an instrument rating can provide training on the instrument flying required for a private certificate only. To provide instruction on the use of instruments for an instrument rating, a commercial certificate or an ATP certificate, the CFI must have an instrument rating.
What is required for Cfii?
Requirements: Applicant must hold an FAA Third Class Medical and Commercial Pilot Certificate, single engine land with instrument rating or ATP certificate. This course is conducted under FAR part 61. This CFII course can be taken in conjunction with our CFI course .
Can a CFI provide instrument training?
No instrument, commercial training unless the CFI is a CFII A CFI cannot provide any and all training on a basic initial CFI certificate. To provide instrument training, other than the basic training for example in a private pilot certificate, the CFI must be qualified as an “instrument” instructor also.

What’s the difference between CFI and CFII?
A CFI can teach flying a single engine airplane in VFR conditions. A CFII can teach a single engine aircraft in IFR conditions. MEI can teach multi engine and if they have there CFII they can teach multi in IFR conditions.
