What is low speed stall?
Stalls can happen at any speed, but the most common type of stall is a low speed stall, where the airflow is too slow to provide enough lift. The amount of airflow you need over the wing to hold the aircraft in the air depends (among other things) on the bank angle you are flying at.
Is low stall speed good?
Converter stall speed must be high enough to put the engine into the torque range where it can most efficiently launch the car. If converter stall speed is too low, the car will be lazy leaving the line; if too high, there’ll be excessive high-gear slippage—either case adds time to your e.t.
What are the symptoms of a failing torque converter?
When the torque converter starts malfunctioning, you may feel shuddering and even slipping in overdrive. You usually notice your car shuddering because it feels like it’s vibrating. Your car will vibrate even when you’re not going very fast. The shuddering makes the car lag and is very noticeable.
Why do planes use Mach?
The Mach number describes the aircraft’s speed compared with the speed of sound in air, with Mach 1 equating to the speed of sound. Mach numbers are very useful when it comes to measuring the speed of aircraft travelling close to or beyond the sound barrier.
Which is the slowest speed for an U-2?
So the lowest speed will occur with the lightest aircraft, which is a pretty good spread with the U-2. Without sensor payloads and with low fuel the stall speed will be the slowest. Warmer air increases the MMO and widens the coffin corner, and eases the workload.
How long does it take for a U-2 to get to altitude?
The aircraft has an initial climb rate of 15,000ft/min to around 25,000ft and then uses a lower climb rate to achieve an altitude of 70,000ft. A typical reconnaissance mission might take six and a half hours and the aircraft’s range is over 3,000 miles.
How tall is the U-2 high altitude reconnaissance aircraft?
The U-2 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, also known as the ‘Dragon Lady’. The U-2 flies at 70,000ft (21,336m), gathering surveillance and signals intelligence data in real time from anywhere in the world.
How does the speed of Sound Affect a U-2?
One simply said that the speed is reached by feel. Stalling a U-2 put one at risk for structural failure in the tail. So if you work out the indicated temperature you expect, and know what your weight will be, then you know the gap between stall and MMO. The temperature drives the speed of sound.
