Do you need RAIM for GPS approaches?
IFR GPS units must automatically perform a RAIM check before beginning an approach. However, performing a RAIM check prior to leaving the ground will better enable pilots to plan ahead and is recommended specifically for pilots without baro-aiding (see below).
When should you do a RAIM check?
RAIM is considered available if 24 GPS satellites or more are operative. If the number of GPS satellites is 23 or fewer, RAIM availability must be checked using approved ground-based prediction software. Several GPS-related systems also provide integrity signals separate from GPS.
What is a RAIM check?
Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitor (RAIM) is a form of integrity monitoring performed within the avionics themselves. It ensures available satellite signals meet the integrity requirements for a given phase of flight.
How do you do a RAIM check?

- Type the ICAO codes Next to the Enter ICAOs *.

Do you have to check RAIM before every GPS?

So during flight we do not need to. As long as we have performed prediction throughout the route.
When do you check RAIM before a flight?
The FAA website predicts the availability of RAIM; based on the constellation of GPS and the health status of its satellites, the route and the time of flight it is possible to calculate whether RAIM is available for your flight. This can be done before you take-off.
Can a VFR GPS unit show RAIM alerts?
Pilots are also reminded that many handheld and VFR GPS units do not provide RAIM monitoring or alerts. Loss of the required number of satellites in view, or the detection of a position error, cannot be displayed to the pilot by such receivers.
