No, there is no requirement to take the ATP‐CTP if pursuing the single‐engine ATP.

Are there any exceptions to ATP for commercial pilots?
They’ve made exceptions for pilots coming through certain training programs, allowing them to earn an ATP with restricted privileges in less time. The exceptions are: Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate that was earned through the university’s part 141 training program
Can a non-US citizen get a FAA license?
Plenty of non-US citizens – myself included – hold FAA pilot’s licenses (although I’m not an ATP). This question has more details, but as long as you’re legally in the US with an appropriate visa, and you have TSA approval for training, then you can get any FAA license you want (or can afford!).
How many hours do you have to fly an airplane to get an ATP certificate?
Hour requirement Unless otherwise exempt, you must have 1,500 hours before applying for an ATP certificate, including 500 hours of cross-country time, 100 hours of night time, 50 hours in the class of airplane for the rating, 75 hours of instrument time, and 250 hours of time as pilot in command.
Can a foreign private pilot license be used in the US?
However, the US civil aviation authority, known as the FAA will only grant you a Private Pilot license based on your foreign certificate. Even if you are an ATP with thousands of hours, you will need to take certain steps in order to have your private license transferred and valid in the US.
