Are Pilots allowed to take melatonin?
Melatonin is approved by the FAA on a case by case basis. Pilots without “sleep disorders” using melatonin must take it daily and the dosage should be 3-5 mg.
Why can’t pilots go to therapy?
The supportive care may also involve the use medication or counseling. Pilots obviously are currently prohibited from flying if they have an ongoing need for medication to maintain remission of the condition.
