What causes pictures to look pixelated?
Pixelation usually occurs when you try to resize a low-quality image or when viewing a very low-quality image. This destroys the overall effect of the image you are viewing. Short of creating a new image of the same object in a higher resolution, there is no way to increase the resolution of an image.
What is Pixelating an image?
Pixelation happens when, instead of blending seamlessly, pixels become visible to the naked eye. You can get accidental pixelation when you resize an image to dimensions that are too large for its resolution, but you can also create cool effects by intentionally pixelating an image.
Can you fix pixelated photos?
You can try Gaussian Blur, followed by Sharpen filter to fix pixelation in photos. Adjust the image pixel settings to an acceptable level and reduce pixelation or blur in your pictures.

Why Do My Photos Become Pixelated The most common cause of image pixelation is the resizing of pictures. When you resize a small photo to its larger version without doing any technical work on its resolution, the bitmaps appear on the screen. Hence, the overall image turns blurry and unclear.

Pixelation mostly occurs when resizing of the raster or non-vector images are enlarged to a point where individual pixels can be observed. In other words, pixelation occurs when the pixels are stretched to a point beyond their original size. This in turn causes the fuzziness or blurry sections in the image.
Why are there more pixels in a black and white picture?
We are choosing how small to make section of the picture we look at when deciding whether to make it black or white. The smaller the sample, the more pixels required to represent that image. Larger samples require less pixels, but the image can become blurry. Try it out yourself!
Why are some of my photos so pixelated?
If the image were good, but the exposure was wrong or some other factors which made it noisy or pixelated, the photographer would supply the odd black and white image in amongst the color ones instead as much pixelated noise is from the color data.
How are black and white images represented in Photoshop?
Students use the black and white pixelation widget to represent each pixel of an image with black or white light.
