Why we use RLC?
RLC circuits have many applications as oscillator circuits. Radio receivers and television sets use them for tuning to select a narrow frequency range from ambient radio waves. An RLC circuit can be used as a band-pass filter, band-stop filter, low-pass filter or high-pass filter.
Why does an RLC circuit oscillate?
Once the capacitor is discharged, the inductor resists any change in the current flow, causing the capacitor to be charged again with the opposite polarity. The voltage in the capacitor eventually causes the current flow to stop and then flow in the opposite direction. The result is an oscillation, or resonance.
What are the applications of LC circuits in real life?
The LC circuit is used to select or generate a specific frequency signal. The application of LC circuits is reflected in many electronic devices, especially radio devices, such as transmitters, radio receivers and television receivers, amplifiers, oscillators, filters, tuners and frequency mixers.
What can a RC / RL / RLC circuit be used for?
A RC/RL/RLC circuit can be used as a filter, oscillator and much more it is not possible to cover every aspect in this tutorial, so we will learn the basic behaviour of them in this tutorial. Before we start with each topic let us understand how a Resistor, Capacitor and an Inductor behave in an electronic circuit.
Is the resonance frequency of a RLC circuit the same as an LC circuit?
This is exactly the same as the resonance frequency of an LC circuit, that is, one with no resistor present. The resonant frequency for an RLC circuit is the same as a circuit in which there is no damping, hence undamped resonance frequency.
How to find the governing differential equation for a RLC circuit?
Series RLC circuit. The governing differential equation can be found by substituting into Kirchhoff’s voltage law (KVL) the constitutive equation for each of the three elements. From the KVL, where VR, VL and VC are the voltages across R, L and C respectively and V (t) is the time-varying voltage from the source.
How is a band pass filter formed with a RLC circuit?
A band-pass filter can be formed with an RLC circuit by either placing a series LC circuit in series with the load resistor or else by placing a parallel LC circuit in parallel with the load resistor.
