What is SWD STM32?
Serial Wire Debug (SWD) is a 2-pin (SWDIO/SWCLK) electrical alternative JTAG interface that has the same JTAG protocol on top. This enables the debugger to become another AMBA bus master for access to system memory and peripheral or debug registers.
What is STM32 debugging?
The debug interface of STM32 products provides an access to MCU internal resources. This interface is used to program the MCU and debug applications using basic debug features.
What is ARM JTAG?
ARM JTAG 20. The ARM JTAG 20 connector is a 20-way 2.54mm pitch connector. It can be used in either standard JTAG (IEEE 1149.1) mode or Serial Wire Debug (SWD) mode.
When to use SWD for STM32 debugging?
The debug features are used by the debugger host when connecting to and debugging the STM32 MCUs. The debug features embedded in the Cortex®-M3 core are a subset of the Arm® CoreSight Design Kit. We’ll be using the SWD in this tutorial.
What is stm32cubeprogrammer and what is its purpose?
STM32CubeProgrammer (STM32CubeProg) is an all-in-one multi-OS software tool for programming STM32 products. It provides an easy-to-use and efficient environment for reading, writing and verifying device memory through both the debug interface (JTAG and SWD) and the bootloader interface (UART, USB DFU, I 2 C, SPI, and CAN).
Which is the best software for writing STM32?
STM32CubeProgrammer (STM32CubeProg) is an all-in-one multi-OS software tool for programming STM32 products. It provides an easy-to-use and efficient environment for reading, writing and verifying device memory through both the debug interface (JTAG and SWD) and the bootloader interface (UART, USB DFU, I 2 C, SPI,…
What’s the difference between SWD and Serial Wire Debug?
For reference, Wio Terminal is used as the hardware to demonstrate the debugging process. SWD, also known as Serial Wire Debug is a 2-pin interface (SWDIO/SWCLK) of which it’s also an alternative JTAG interface that has the same JTAG protocol.
