Usually, these switches can be made by using a binary divider or 555 timer IC but they consume current even in OFF state and it makes the process a bit complicated. Therefore we designed this circuit using two transistors they don’t consume current in off state and are suitable for battery power.
How does a remote controlled light switch work?
Remote Controlled Light Switch. Remote Controlled Light Switch is an application where a remote is used to turn ON or OFF an AC Light. We used a simple remote and TSOP 1738 IR Receiver at the transmitter and receiver side of the circuit. Normally, we use remote controls to turn ON or OFF appliances like TV, DVD Player, Music System, etc.
Why are two transistors used in a DC Circuit?
Therefore we designed this circuit using two transistors they don’t consume current in off state and are suitable for battery power. This circuit operates on a battery of 9 to 12 volts DC. Initially, the circuit will remain in the off state because the push button has not been pressed and no current is flowing through the transistor.
What does Q1 of IC 4017 do on a remote control?
Since Q1 of IC 4017 is connected to input of the relay board, the relay is activated and turns ON the light (or any other load connected to it). Now, when a button is pressed on the remote control, the output of the TSOP goes LOW once again the PNP transistor is once again turned ON.
How is a 555 timer based on an ON OFF switch?
The schematic of the 555-timer based on-off switch is given below. In the circuit, pin 2 and pin 6 are connected, and pins 4 and 8 are also connected. The output of the voltage divider circuit is connected to pin 6 of the IC. One resistor of the voltage divider circuit is connected via a 1uF capacitor to the output pin 3 through the 100k resistor.
How is a push on push off circuit connected?
In the circuit, pin 2 and pin 6 are connected, and pins 4 and 8 are also connected. The output of the voltage divider circuit is connected to pin 6 of the IC. One resistor of the voltage divider circuit is connected via a 1uF capacitor to the output pin 3 through the 100k resistor.
One resistor of the voltage divider circuit is connected via a 1uF capacitor to the output pin 3 through the 100k resistor. A push-button is connected between pin 2 and the capacitor’s positive terminal. An LED is also connected through its current limiting resistor at the output of the IC. Two 220KΩ resistors create a voltage divider circuit.
