What is DC voltage gain?
DC voltage gain (also called steady-state voltage gain) is the ratio: outputvoltageinputvoltage for a direct voltage input. AC voltage gain is the same formula, but for unbiased sinusoidal input and output voltages.
What is AC voltage gain?
The output voltage (on the collector terminal of the transistor) will have an AC component that is an amplified version of the input signal, superimposed on a DC voltage. The ratio of the AC component of the output to the AC component of the input is called the “gain”. The gain is usually between 5 an 20.
What’s the difference between DC current gain and AC?
It is easy to understand what DC current gain means here. The base current is constant, the collector current is also constant. An their ratio βdc = Ic/Ib. This is the DC current gain. But I don’t get the meaning of the βac AC current gain formula here. Is that the derivative of Ic wrt Ib?
What happens when an amp has a DC gain?
Amps with DC gain will amplify both DC and AC up to the frequency response and output voltage limits of the amplifier. Thus if you had a 1Vac signal within the bandwidth of the amplifier with a 1Vdc bias and you had an amp with a gain of two, then the output would be a 2Vac signal with a 2Vdc bias.
How is the current gain of a transistor calculated?
The D-C current gain of a transistor is simply the collector current divided by the base current. Example: Look at the following (A-C and D-C Current Gain Calculation Graph); when VCE = 5.5 V and IB = 30 mA, the collector current is 6 mA.
How is the AC voltage different from the DC voltage?
The AC voltage is unidirectional, and the DC voltage is bidirectional. The generator generates the AC voltage, and the DC voltage is obtained from the cell or battery. The efficiency of AC voltage is high as compared to the DC voltage. The impedance is the passive parameter of the AC voltage, and for DC it is resistance.
