What is the function of a MIDI?
MIDI is an acronym that stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It’s a way to connect devices that make and control sound — such as synthesizers, samplers, and computers — so that they can communicate with each other, using MIDI messages.

We refer to this as a USB-DAW connection (DAW is short for Digital Audio Workstation, meaning a computer running a digital audio/MIDI application such as Ableton Live, Cubase, or Pro Tools). You can send MIDI data both ways, so you only need one cable for both MIDI In and MIDI out.
