What is the input impedance of a non-inverting op-amp amplifier?
Since no current flows into the non-inverting input terminal the input impedance is infinite (ideal conditions) so zero current will flow through the feedback loop.
How does the input impedance of a non-inverting amplifier configuration compare to the input impedance of the op-amp itself?
The noninverting op amp has the highest input impedance, that of the op amp itself. For an inverting amplifier, the input impedance is approximately equal to the input resistance, R1 (Figure 15.9). This is because the input resistor is connected to “virtual ground” in the inverting configuration.
What is inverting input and non-inverting input?
One of the inputs is called the Inverting Input, marked with a negative or “minus” sign, ( – ). The other input is called the Non-inverting Input, marked with a positive or “plus” sign ( + ). As the input signal is connected directly to the non-inverting input of the amplifier the output signal is not inverted resulting in the output voltage being equal to the input voltage, thus Vout = Vin.
