What is disable interrupt?
The simplest solution is to have each process disable all interrupts just after entering its CS and re-enable them just before leaving it. With interrupts disabled, the processor can not switch to another process.
How do I turn off all interrupts?
To disable all interrupts, either the Global Interrupt Enable (GIE) bit must be cleared or all the individual interrupt enable bits must be cleared. An issue arises when an instruction clears the GIE bit and an interrupt occurs “simultaneously”.
Can hardware interrupts be disabled?
The simple answer is that an interrupt automatically disables further interrupts. Interrupts should and are disabled for the shortest time only. The first instruction in the original AT BIOS keyboard ISR was STI to enable interrupts.
What happens if you disable interrupts?
Conversely, to disable means to postpone interrupts until a later time. On the ARM Cortex-M processor there is one interrupt enable bit for the entire interrupt system. We disable interrupts if it is currently not convenient to accept interrupts. In particular, to disable interrupts we set the I bit in PRIMASK.
What is the disadvantage of disabling interrupts?
Disabling interrupts has the following disadvantages: 1. One must be careful not to disable interrupts for too long; devices that raise interrupts need to be serviced! 2.
How many external interrupts does the STM32F4 have?
Each STM32F4 device has 23 external interrupt or event sources. They are split into 2 sections. First interrupt section is for external pins (P0 to P15) on each port, and other section is for other events, like RTC interrupt, Ethernet interrupt, USB interrupt and so on. October 1, 2014: Added external interrupts library.
Is there a TM _ general library for stm32f4xx?
If you are using my TM_GENERAL library for STM32F4xx and its Enable and Disable interrupts function, then you don’t have to worry about everything listed above, because these 2 functions are written in a way to avoid strange behaviour in your system. You can use it everywhere and they will work as expected.
How are PA0 and pb0 connected in STM32F4?
PA0 and PB0 and PC0 and so on, are connected to Line0, so you can use only one pin at one time to handle interrupt from there. PA0 and PA5 are connected to different lines, they can be used at the same time. Each line can trigger an interrupt on rising, falling or rising_falling enge on signal.
How to enable or disable an interrupt on a CPU?
To enable/disable an individual interrupt you need to RTFM for the cpu’s interrupt registers and twiddle the correct bits – again, in CF it means setting a bit in the interrupt mask register to disable that source.
