Do Nixie tubes wear out?
Because it is a shine and not a glow Nixie tubes do not wear out. Over the life time of Nixie tubes there is no reliable information. It should be a few decades. Nixie tubes have no gaskets.

Why are the colors of Nixie tubes different?
Some color variation can be observed between types, caused by differences in the gas mixtures used. Longer-life tubes that were manufactured later in the Nixie timeline have mercury added to reduce sputtering resulting in a blue or purple tinge to the emitted light.
