Are DC motor and induction motor same?
Brushed DC motors depend on a mechanical system to transfer current, while AC and brushless DC gear motors use an electronic mechanism to control current. In AC induction motors the rotor turns in response to the “induction” of a rotating magnetic field within the stator, as the current passes.
Can a DC motor produce?
Any DC motor with permanent magnets can easily be a generator. It doesn’t matter whether it is brushed or not; brushless motors make great generators but you will need to add a rectifier to get a DC output.
What is a DC induction motor?
As the name suggest, brushed DC electric motors are powered with a direct current (DC). The motors are mechanically commutated. Brushed DC motors utilize a permanent magnet or wound stator poles. The permanent magnet or wound stator poles generate the main stationary magnetic field of the motor.
Which is better DC motor or induction motor?
AC motors are generally considered to be more powerful than DC motors because they can generate higher torque by using a more powerful current. However, DC motors are typically more efficient and make better use of their input energy.

Which is better an induction motor or a DC motor?
Add an inverter (without any feedback control) and it becomes possible to power an induction machine from a battery or other DC source; variable speed also becomes possible simply by adjusting the inverter frequency. Still, torque performance is low compared with DC machines.
Why do we need an AC induction motor?
AC induction motors excel at driving high-inertia loads at high speeds — in fans, saws, conveyors, and mills, for example — and variable frequency drives make it possible to match the motor speed to the application requirements by varying the frequency of the supplied voltage.
Are there any electric cars that use induction?
Back in the 1990s all of the electric vehicles except one were powered by DC brushless drives. Today, all the hybrids are powered by DC brushless drives, with no exceptions. The only notable uses of induction drives have been the General Motors EV-1; the AC Propulsion vehicles, including the tzero; and the Tesla Roadster.
Is it possible to run a DC motor?
There is no on-going power associated with a fixed magnetic field, just some fixed energy to hold it there. If this weren’t true, you could get ongoing power from a fixed permanent magnet. However, true DC motors are possible. In fact, the first real continuously running electric motor was DC.
