The two main materials found in motherboards are fibreglass and copper. Fibreglass provides insulation whereas copper forms the conductive pathways within the component. During the manufacturing process, a sheet of fibreglass fabric is coated with epoxy resin and heated until the resin is partially cured.

Through a web interface, you can for example design your own Intel Atom based processor board. It will even generate a schematic for you! I have never used it, so I am not sure how good it is, but certainly it is an interesting idea.
