What is input clamping current?
An input current in a region of relatively low differential resistance that serves to limit the voltage swing.
What is meant by voltage clamp?
The voltage clamp is a classic electrophysiological technique to measure ion currents across the cell membrane. Under voltage clamp conditions, voltage-gated ion channels open and close as normal, but the voltage clamp apparatus compensates for the changes in the ion current to maintain a constant membrane potential.
How does a clamp diode work?
The clamping circuit fixes the voltage lower limit to zero, that is, the start of the signal is 0 V. The positive clamping circuit blocks the input signal when the diode is forward biased. During the negative half cycle of an AC signal, the diode is forward biased and allows electric current through it.
What is meant by input clamp current / output clamp?
While reading a PIC data sheet, I found the parameters Input clamp current / Output Clamp current. Where do I consider these specifications? It is an ESD circuit triggering limit specification.
Is the output waveform a negative clamper?
The output waveform is clamped to +10V, the value of the battery. Since this is a negative clamper (cathode to ground), the top of the output wave touch the +10V reference line. Similarly it is possible to clamp the input waveform negatively at by reversing the battery connections as shown in Fig 5 (b)
What are the specs for a clamp diode?
There are probably two separate specs for these clamp diode currents. The absolute maximum section will tell you what the device can tolerate without getting damaged. This is the current the diodes can shunt around the rest of the chip without harm. The other spec will be in the operating section.
What does a positive biased clamper circuit mean?
A biased clamper means that the clamping can be done at any voltage level other than zero. Fig 3 (a) shows the circuit of positive clamper with positive biased Here a battery of 10 V is added in such a way that the clamping take place positively at 10V.
