What is the time period of clock in Verilog?
2 Answers. That always block changes the clock signal status (high to low and low to high) every 10 time units. If the clock changes each 10 time units, it’s period would be 20 time units e.g clock changes every 10 seconds, it’s half cycle would be 10 seconds and its period would be 20 seconds.
How do you code a clock in Verilog?
If you want to model a clock you can:
- convert first assign into initial begin clk = 0; end.
- second assign to always.
- make clk reg type.
What is the time period of clock #5 clock clock?
Answer: The time period of oscillation of a wave is defined as the time taken by any element of the string to complete one such oscillation. A pendulum clock takes 1 s to move from one extreme to the other extreme. As a result, one oscillation takes 2 seconds.
What is the time period of clock 20 clock clock?
24-hour clock
| 24-hour clock | 12-hour clock |
|---|---|
| 19:00 | 7:00 p.m. |
| 20:00 | 8:00 p.m. |
| 21:00 | 9:00 p.m. |
| 22:00 | 10:00 p.m. |
How often does the clock change in Verilog?
If the clock changes each 10 time units, it’s period would be 20 time units e.g clock changes every 10 seconds, it’s half cycle would be 10 seconds and its period would be 20 seconds. It requires two toggles of the clock to generate one period. Thanks for contributing an answer to Stack Overflow!
How often does always block change the clock?

How to calculate the period of a clock?
For it to be synthesize you need a reference clock that you already know the real period (e.g. ref_clk ), then you can estimate the period of any other clock. You’ll need an counter (e.g. gs_cnt) that is incremented by gsclk. Let the counter run for ref_cnt number of ref_clk cycles. The period of gsclk can be estimated as ref_period*ref_cnt/gs_cnt.
How do you work out the unknown period of a clock?
If that’s not possible, you can divide the unknown clock by some factor (say 16 or 128 or 1024) and count ticks of the known clock for each cycle of the divider to work out the unknown period.
