What kind of rubber can be laser cut?
Neoprene™ rubber, also known as polychloroprene, is a synthetic rubber created by the polymerization of chloroprene. Laser processing of Neoprene™ rubber can be done with either a 10.6 or 9.3 micron CO2 laser with no appreciable difference.
Can silicone rubber be laser cut?
Laser cutting of silicone rubber can produce a smooth, clean edge on material up to 0.25 inches thick (6 millimeters). Laser engraving of silicone rubber can produce deep engraving while maintaining high detail.
Can you laser cut gaskets?
Custom gasket cutting is the process that produces laser cut gaskets with very tight tolerance, as low as ±0.0005. There are many machines and technologies that can produce precision cut gaskets. The machines that can cut the tightest gasket is the UV laser; it can hold up as low as ±0.0005.
Can polyurethane rubber be lasered?
Polyurethane is a friendly material for the laser. Numerous types of gaskets and foam parts are easily laser cut with our lasers. We can laser cut open cell and close cell polyurethane foam up to 1″ thick.
What is laser rubber?

Is silicone safe to laser?
Silicone can be readily cut with a CO2 laser. Figure 6 shows a gasket cut from a 1/16” thick silicone sheet. Laser cutting silicone does create some residue, but it can be easily cleaned off with soapy water.

Can a vinyl cutter cut gaskets?
The vinyl cutters can do the detail just fine. The thickness may be an issue. Just ask a sign maker.
Is polyurethane laser safe?
What is confusing about this is that polyurethane is generally considered a very “laser friendly” material to cut (stated all over the place on laser hobbyist and professional websites under acceptable materials).
