It’s totally free to get your Radio ID and you NEED ONE if you are going to have a DMR radio and use it. Is it the law? No. But you aren’t going to enjoy using DMR unless you have one, so do yourself a favor and get registered with RadioID.net as soon as you buy a DMR Radio.
Can you have more than one DMR ID?
The TX radio DMR ID should be same with the ID which set in the pistar. Other radios only can receive, but cant Transmit. if two radios (different DMR Ids) are same frequency, color code, contacts. they both can receive all the singals from the active Talkgroups.

Why do you need a DMR ID for a ham radio?

How to register for a DMR ID on pi-star?
If you have a hotspot, or use “Pi-Star”, it will more than likely use the Brandmeister network. After completing the registration, you will receive an email within a few days with your new ID. It’s strongly suggested to not lose this email. It is also highly recommended to also register this ID with the Brandmeister network.
