What is iambic keying?
Iambic keying or squeeze keying creates alternating dits and dahs. This reduces the keystrokes or hand movements necessary to make some characters, e.g. the letter C, which can be sent by merely squeezing the two paddles together.
How does a Morse key work?
Telegraph keys are electrical on-off switches used to send messages in Morse code. The message travels as a series of electrical pulses through a wire. The operator pushes the key’s lever down briefly to make a short signal, a dot, or holds the lever down for a moment to make a slightly longer signal, a dash.

There are two meanings to the word “bug” in the history of the telegraph. The first use of the word has its roots as a technical problem heard on duplex and quadruplex telegraph circuits. A duplex circuit allowed two messages to be sent in opposite directions at the same time with two operators at each end of the wire.
