If your budget is extremely limited, try the quad core Intel Xeon E3-1200 v5 and, for mobile workstations, the Intel Xeon E5-1500 v5 CPU. We would not recommend Intel Core i5 or Core i7 as these CPUs do not support ECC memory (see later).
