It is OK to use Thank you for asking, it is informal. The expressions is not carrying any negative meaning BUT in my humble opinion it is very plain boring answer.

3 Answers. Nonsense indeed. They are quite different, if only because “no thanks” idiomatically just means “No, but thank you for offering.” Funnily enough though, “No thanks necessary/required!” is the same as “No need to say thanks.”
