What is a hard cold start?
A common complaint, especially when temperature start to drop is, “My car runs poorly cold, or my car is hard to start cold”. This condition where the engine needs more fuel cold is called cold start enrichment. Enrichment meaning a higher ratio of fuel to air.
What causes hard starting when diesel engine is hot?
Difficult start of the warmed diesel engine as opposed to the easy cold start can be caused by the high pressure fuel pump malfunction connected with the plunger pair wear. When fuel warms up, its viscosity decreases and hydraulic losses in clearances increase.

This is due to one or more of the following factors: Bad cell/internal connection inside the battery. Bad connection to a battery terminal, the starter solenoid (either side) or the starter. Starter internally shorted when hot.

Hard warm starts can also be traced to a leaking fuel pressure regulator (FPR) or fuel injector. Sometimes, a fuel pressure dampener may cause the same symptoms. At the beginning, a worn FPR or fuel injector may give in to pressure in the fuel line and then stop leaking.
Why does my ttora not start when hot?
If I start it when cold or not up to operating temp it fires right away. I’m just thinking that the coolant is leaking back from the hot head to the coolant temp sensor, heat soaking it and causing it to run a rich start up. I’ve checked the sensor and all the resistances seem to be within spec.
Why does my 96 2.7 not start when hot?
My 96 2.7 had the same thing going on and I took the mass air senser out and the wire’s were dirty, so I sprayed it with b-12, wire’s only. The problems been gone for a year now. O.K., here’s what’s going on.
